Product Description
If you do not already have one, it is recommended you get a programming cable set for $25.
The Antenna connector on this radio is a Type N and not a PL259.
When you buy the CS800D, you re actually getting the CS800D PLUS radio and is so marked on the front and the labels. The functionality of the firmware is identical to the CS800D. The CS800D PLUS is a CS800D with more flash memory.
The Extended receive is very helpful in monitoring Emergency Managment inter-op and Fire Mutual Aid channels (frequencies) operatig in UHF T Band 470 - 512 MHz. (Customer Review)
This is the first dual band mobile DMR and Analog radio designed specifically for the Amateur market. Among other features that will be discussed later is the ability to legally transmit on both Amateur and Commercial bands with an extended frequency coverage in the UHF band and a removable front panel. First let me show you what some of our customers think of it.

The Extended receive is very helpful in monitoring Emergency Managment inter-op and Fire Mutual Aid channels (frequencies) operating in UHF T Band 470 - 512 MHz. As first responder for my towns Emergency Managment this is very helpful in coordinating with mutual aid agencies.

I like the radio especially because of its separating head. I just did not have the needed space otherwiae. Seperation cable is cheap and probably in uour junk box anyway.

I have used the radio a couple of times. And has performed as expected.

Love the form factor especially since it's the only dual band DMR radio that offers remote capability. The software is easy to download and use. Absolutely love the microphone as it looks, and feels, like the Kenwood land mobile commercial microphones.
KEY UNIQUE FEATURES
The CS800D is the only dual band DMR mobile that has a detachable head. The head is attached to the radio using standard CAT 5 or CAT 6 cable. An optional head is available for this radio called the CS-BFD that uses a 7 inch color Touch Screen LCD that gives additonal features not available in the radio.
From the inside, the CS800D is different than the other dual band mobiles. The radio uses a double conversion superhet design with a tuned front end design for maximum sensitivity and minimum interference from nearby radios. The radio has two independent power amplifiers. Switching between UHF and VHF is by means of solid state switches.
Here is the best part. If you do not think this radio is worth what you paid for it, you can return the radio within 30 days and get a complete refund of your purchase price. If the radio breaks during the first year, we fix it for free.
With a deal like this you would think you would be dealing with a company located in Hong Kong or China. We are a United States company and have been in business since 1982.
SPECIAL FEATURES
This monochrome LCD display has larger characters and better visibility in the sunlight than the small color LCD displays.

CS800D
Great functional dual band DMR radio. When ordered, nothing was mentioned about a mounting bracket but ordered anyway. Was relieved when I found it in the box. Hand mic has a solid feel to it, not like a lot of others out there. Display is very readable for where I have it mounted here at my desk but I could see where that same could not be said if installed in a mobile. Only issue I have with the display is the amber color. I am not a fan of amber and prefer blue, but this is just me. Front firing speaker and front mounted mic connector are a BIG plus in my book. This makes installing in a mobile in place of a car stereo a no brainer. Programming software is a bit kludgy but from what I have seen, that is the nature of DMR software.

Well pleased
I am pretty satisfied with this radio so far. It operates very similar to Motorola, which is what I use mainly for public service. I am impressed with the receive and output quality, I have had good comments during QSO's. The only down fall I had found so far is that the scan sucks, hopefully that will be fixed in future updates. Furthermore, I would prefer to not have to insert a cable into the back of the radio to program, I wished it was in the front. Great radio so far!

CS800D
Good little radio. Bought this because it's all that would fit in my wife's Subaru. Look great, works great. If you haven't programmed one before read the step by step instructions from CS's site. Watch YouTube programming videos. This programming is unique. My wife likes it! Connect Systems is a pleasure to do business with!

CS800D
Radio was a bit larger than I expected (though I can see the dimensions.) Solid unit, programmed from a blank CP in about 5 mins for several local repeaters. Analog power was 43w on 146 and 39w on 445 through a Bird. Audio in and out is decent. Buttons on the head unit are a bit firm. My biggest gripe is not being able to disable the mic backlight separately from the head unit. The second con is the mic port is on the head, though it's very easy to move this to the db15 on the rear. Otherwise, as a radio it is good. This was added simply to have DMR capability and reminded me of why I hate DMR.

One of the best Part 90 radios for the absolutely best price
This was my second CS800D I have purchased. They are great, sound great and have a great frequency range. I do wish there were a few things different in the front panel display and operation: 1) An option to reverse a channel's input/output, which is pretty handy at times. 2) An easier way to add a channel on the fly, the current method is pretty tedious. 3) A way to support APRS. 4) Bluetooth Other than that, you can't find a better radio with detachable faceplate under $500 that covers both UHF & VHF both analog and DMR.

CS800D
Bought for the remote head option as only a few DMR radio's have this feature. So far I'm l'm liking it, with the exception of NO DUAL BAND watch capabilities. Would have given it 5 STARS had it had this feature. Utilizing the SCAN feature in the DUAL BAND's place, but it's not quite the same as my other DMR Radio which has DUAL BAND watch receive a TYT MD-9600. I also love the 7" CS-BFD, touch screen display which I mounted to the wall with a swiveling TV monitor stand in my Ham Shack. It works GREAT, and is much bigger than it appeared in the AD, which almost never happens with stuff I purchase. I was able to program my CSI setup utilizing the optional USB programing cable. The only item I ended up not useing was the CS-BFD 12Vdc Wall Wart power supply I purchased, as after receiving everything I realized the CS-BFD display works on 12VDC too so I hooked it up directly to my 12VDC supply that powered the CS800D radio too. All in all it was a good buy, and works great on DMR in my Ham Shack. Thanks K9OY Chicagoland, IL....

Well done CS800D
I needed a dual band DMR radio with removable head due to limited vehicle spare - this was the only solution I found to meet my goals. Easy to program a codeplug with the CPS. Minor issue (probably my fault) where the unit got bricked. Outstanding support and tools, easily correctable - or I had the option for return too, not needed. Outstanding products, support and company.. they actually answer the phone too! Well done!

Best Dual Band DMR + Analog Radio
I've had this radio installed for a few days now. Reasons for purchase: 1)2m & 70cm (dual band) 2)DMR & Analog 3)Remote Head 4)Quality 5)Current Support 6)Price point blows competition out of the water. The code plug does not convert perfectly from an AT-D878UV, but well enough to get on the road. Audio is clear, and I have no complaints on those receiving my calls. It does seem that the DMR audio I transmit is pretty quiet compared to analog, but its not a deal breaker, others claim to hear me clearly. Wishlist: 1)A way to customize the screen, or add zone to the display. 2)A way to configure zones using spreadsheets like the Anytone and import that into the code plug. 3)A way to increase the digital gain from the microphone separate from the analog gain. 4)Better documentation on the menus and options 5)VFO mode for HAM bands (could be part of the talkaround but I haven't figured it out yet).

Outstanding radio - mediocre display
The 800D is an outstanding radio, it has borne up in harsh conditions of both heat and cold for me and has been very solid. The only downside is the display, it simply doesn't show enough information. The BFD rescues it. I now have 2 CS800Ds, so a 4 out of 5 rating is pretty good (I almost never give 5/5 ratings).

CS 800D
